Childhood Favorite!

One of my favorite meals that brings me back to my childhood would be my dad's sunny-side up eggs with toast. My dad is not much of a cook, but he's good at preparing sunny-side up and scrambled eggs. My dad would occasionally make this for my brother and I when we were kids especially when my mummy did not prepare anything for lunch or dinner. I love eating sunny-side up eggs and my dad makes it perfect. Salt and pepper instead of soy sauce because it's the French way.. says my dad lol..

The first meal that I've ever cooked were sunny-side up eggs for my gramps and I was probably 11 or 12 years old. It took a few tries and a bunch of wasted eggs but I eventually served something edible.. it was a success because my gramps was still alive after eating it. It definitely did not taste like how my dad makes it but it was a start. Til this day, I still cannot cook it the way my dad does and I really have no idea why. The ingredients are simple... garlic, olive oil, eggs, salt, and pepper.. that's it. Sometimes I think I could be doing things differently.. maybe adding salt a bit early or too late.. probably subconsciously because it is something from my childhood, it can never taste the same unless my dad makes it and I'm okay with that.

Bon apetit!
